Five Turkish students arrested for stealing from a super market in north Cyprus
Five students who stole goods worth over 3,000 Turkish Lira from a super market operating in Demirhan, north Cyprus were brought to court on Monday.
The suspects SB, NS, MR, KA and HO who are all Turkish nationals reportedly stole personal care products and various items worth 3,060 TL from Erülkü Supermarket operating in Demirhan, on December 29, 2024.
They were identified and arrested on Sunday January 5, 2025 and brought to the Lefkosa district court on Monday January 6 on charges of theft.
Police in a court testimony against the suspects said the police received complaint about the theft on January 2, and the suspects were identified and arrested on January 5, 2025.
A search was conducted at the suspects' residence in Gazimağusa, where all the stolen items were found and taken as evidence.
The police said investigation was complete and that all the suspects were university students and requested that they be released on bail.
All the suspects, speaking in court, expressed regret for their actions.
Evaluating the testimony, the judge ordered that each suspect deposit 15,000 TL in cash as bail and report to the police once every two weeks as proof of presence.
