African football player who plays for a TRNC football club arrested at Ercan airport for not having resident permit

There was drama at Ercan airport in north Cyprus when a foreign football player who plays professional football for a Turkish Cypriot football club was denied entry into the country for not having a resident permit.

The football player, Nfanly Sylla who plays for Turkish Cypriot side, Yenicami was held and arrested at Ercan Airport as soon as he arrived north Cyprus from his country this week.

Reports claim that he was arrested for not having a residence permit.

The development has raised concerns about his future at the club.

***Nfanly Sylla is a 19-year old Guinean national. He joined Yenicami AKon August 14, 2024 on a nine months contract that is set to end on May 30, 2025.
