The police in south Cyprus have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a violent robbery in broad daylight and theft of €100,000 that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Limassol.

The incident was reported by a 32-year-old man, who said that he had arranged a meeting on the afternoon of Tuesday December 24 with two individuals for the purpose of purchasing cryptocurrency.

“While in his vehicle waiting to finalise the transaction, one of the two individuals violently struck him on the head and grabbed a shoulder bag containing the aforementioned amount of money before fleeing in an unknown direction,” the police reported.

The second man involved, keeping watch at the scene, was held by the victim until police arrived. The 31 year old was subsequently arrested while the suspect with the cash is still being sought.

Efforts to locate and arrest the second suspect are ongoing.
