Over 40 migrant smugglers caught in Turkiye

More than 40 immigrant smuggling suspects 14 of whom were foreign nationals, were caught and arrested in an operation tagged "Shield-37" carried out across the country on Tuesday.

According to the announcement by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on his social media account, 42 immigrant smuggling suspects were caught across the country on Tuesday December 31. 2024.

His statement reads; "On the last day of 2024, in the 'Shield-37' operations we organized throughout the country, a total of 42 migrant smuggling organizers, 14 of whom were foreign nationals, were caught. In addition, 380,807 people were checked for identity and 764 irregular migrants were detected during the inspections and sent to repatriation centers."
