I’ve decided to kill you, I will kill you: Man arrested for domestic violence tells wife over cheating allegation in north Cyprus
Man who was arrested in a case of domestic violence against ta woman in Lefkosa, north Cyrus told his girlfriend he will kill her following an argument between them.
The incident happened at around 8;00 pm and midnight on January 2–4, 2025, at the residence of the suspect M.A.A. in Küçük Kaymaklı, Lefkosa when the suspect assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to kill her.
The suspect was brought before the court on Sunday on charges of “Sexual Assault, Threat of Violence, and Serious Assault.”
Police in a court statement said the suspect, allegedly due to claims of being cheated on, pulled the woman’s hair and punched her in the right eye and various parts of her body, causing serious injury. The suspect then strangled his girlfriend and threatened her by saying, “I’ve decided to kill you, I will kill you.”
The police stated that following the assault and threat, the suspect forced his girlfriend to touch his genitals without her consent.
Upon learning about the incident, the police arrested the suspect under a warrant. They noted that the suspect did not provide a statement during the investigation and claimed to have certain allegations, which will be verified or refuted.
The police also reported that the victim underwent a medical examination, which revealed bruises on various parts of her body, and a report was obtained confirming this.
To ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly and to determine all aspects of the case in favor of or against the suspect, the police requested that the suspect be held in custody for three days.
In response to the police testimony, the suspect’s lawyer claimed the allegations were baseless. The lawyer argued that the suspect, who lived with the complainant, did not commit the alleged acts, adding that the complainant visited the suspect at his workplace during the mentioned dates and acted as if nothing had happened, which would be evident from the surveillance footage to be obtained.
The judge ordered the suspect to remain in police custody for three days to ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly.
