Man racially attacked in Cyprus

A man was beaten up in Nicosia south Cyprus in the early hours of Friday morning in what police described as a homophobic attack.

The 31-year-old man was attacked at around 2am on Friday December 27 by a group of five to 10 people who had their faces covered.

He reported that the same people also stole his phone, wallet and car keys in addition to making homophobic and racist comments.

According to report, the victim was lured to the location through a social media platform, where he was confronted by the perpetrator and accomplices who had planned the attack.

The man was taken by a friend to Nicosia General hospital where he was diagnosed with various injuries and bruises, received first aid and was released.

Police investigations found the keys of the man’s car near the attack, while all four of his tyres had been damaged.
