Cyprus police arrest and deported 146 people last week
Greek Cypriot police announced that 80 people were arrested deported last week following migrant raids across the country.
The arrests were made during countrywide operations conducted by the Aliens and Immigration Service in collaboration with other police departments.
In the same week, 146 people who were residing without permits in Cyprus were deported to their countries of origin.
Five of these individuals were deported on a joint return flight coordinated by FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, and operated by Belgian authorities.
This marks Cyprus Police’s 14th participation in FRONTEX joint operations this year. Since the beginning of 2024, a total of 8,633 people have been repatriated or deported from the Republic of Cyprus, Police said.
